Google bypassed Yandex in Russia

Russian Google’s revenue was less than Yandex’s revenue, which earned 9.3 billion rubles in a year, 4.2 times.

The revenue of the Russian division of Google in 2009 increased by 5–7%, reaching 2.2 billion rubles. Net profit amounted to 126.7 million rubles, which is 4.5 times more than the previous year.

According to SPARK-Interfax, Yandex has 2.476 billion rubles. That is, in comparison with the Russian company, the net profit of Google turned out to be almost 20 times lower.

According to financial indicators, Google lost to the largest Runet portal, Mail.Ru, whose search market share is relatively small. Mail.ru’s revenue, excluding their gaming business, was 30% higher than Google’s revenue.

In RuNet, Google is the second most common search engine. According to the Liveinternet counter, in July 2010, Yandex owned 52.6% of the search market, Google – 33.7%, and Mail.Ru – 6.6%. The search for pictures on Yandex and Google accounts for another 1 and 1.5%, respectively.
